# Review your firm's usage

Check the firm's use of Ziffa and the allowance shown for its subscription.

## Check the usage screen

1. Open **Settings → Usage**.
2. Review the period shown.
3. Check the units and allowance before comparing figures.

Usage describes the firm's use of Ziffa. Client invoice drafts and the fees your firm charges are covered separately in [Billing settings](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/billing).

## Figures and filters

| Item | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| **Month** | Choose the calendar month used as the starting point for the comparison. |
| **Period** | Choose **Month** or **Quarter**, then select **View usage** to update activity comparisons. It does not change the firm's current credit balance. |
| **Credit balance** | Purchased balance, credits reserved for work in progress, and the amount still available, where credit billing is enabled. |
| **Allowance** | Granted, used, reserved, and remaining units, with an expiry. Read the unit before comparing amounts. |
| **Monthly breakdown** | Activity by calendar month. A dash means unavailable or unconfigured, rather than zero. **Partial tracking** means the full month was not recorded. |
| **Your firm now** | Current counts such as team seats, connections, and Job Templates. These are different from monthly activity totals. |
| **Credit transactions**, **Allowance history**, **Billing draft history** | The supporting history for the firm's Ziffa subscription, where available. These are separate from invoices issued to your own clients. |
| **Tracking and refresh details** | When recording began and when the summary was last refreshed. Earlier history may be unavailable. |

Expand **How usage is counted** for the current rules. One PDF split into four documents is one original file and four processed documents. Reprocessing a document does not count it again. A signing request counts once when successfully sent, and an approval counts when all required approvals complete.

Calendar periods use Malta time. These figures are read-only; they do not change a client's fees.

## If an allowance prevents an action

Read the explanation shown and ask the colleague responsible for the firm's subscription. Changing a client's fee does not change the firm's Ziffa allowance.

If you cannot see Usage, ask a Partner to check your role's access. See [Roles](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/roles).
