# Connect integrations and storage

Connect the firm’s document storage and, if needed, its accounting integration.

## Before connecting

Have the appropriate provider account ready. Choose the firm's intended connection, rather than a personal account that colleagues may later lose access to.

**Settings → Integrations** contains accounting integrations and connected storage. Your role may allow one section without the other.

## Connect document storage

1. Open **Settings → Integrations**.
2. Find the connected-storage section.
3. Choose the supported provider and use its connection control.
4. Complete the provider's sign-in and access request where required.
5. Return to Ziffa and check the connection status and any required folder selection.
6. Check [Document Filing settings](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/document-filing) before expecting files to arrive in the correct place.

For provider-specific steps and screenshots, follow [Connect SharePoint or OneDrive](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/connect-microsoft-storage) or [Connect Google Drive](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/connect-google-drive). Ziffa allows one storage provider at a time.

Connecting a provider and setting folder rules are separate steps. A connected provider does not by itself confirm every client's folders are ready.

## Connect Xero

For issuing client invoices:

1. Open **Settings → Integrations**.
2. Select **Connect Xero** in Accounting Integrations.
3. Sign in to Xero and authorise the firm's intended organisation.
4. Return to Ziffa and check that the connection shows **Connected**.
5. Complete [Settings → Billing](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/billing), including the issuing organisation and default revenue account.

This is the firm's connection. You do not need a separate Xero authorisation for each Entity just to issue invoices to it.

## Connection fields and actions

| Field or action | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Provider** | The connected accounting or storage service. Check it before authorising an account. |
| **Connected On** | When the connection was recorded. It is not the last successful sync time. |
| **Token Expires** | When the accounting connection's current authorisation expires, where shown. |
| **Status** | Whether the connection is active or needs attention. Follow any reconnect message shown. |
| **Root Folder** | The parent folder for Ziffa-managed client folders in the connected storage. [Choose it during storage setup](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/connect-microsoft-storage#3-set-the-root-folder). |
| **Refresh Token** / **Refresh connection** | Renew the selected connection's authorisation. You may be sent to the provider to sign in again. |

The Microsoft setup also asks for a **SharePoint Site URL**. Leave it blank for the supported OneDrive location. Google Drive uses its Google authorisation flow. Both ask for **Folder Name** when setting up the root folder; see [Microsoft storage](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/connect-microsoft-storage) or [Google Drive](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/settings/connect-google-drive).

## If a connection stops working

Check the status and select **Reconnect Google Drive**, **Reconnect SharePoint** or **Reconnect Xero** when reconnection is required. Confirm which account you are reconnecting.

Colleagues with the relevant connection grant receive an in-app notification and email when action is required. With standard roles, these are the firm's active Partners. A delegated colleague with the same grant is included. Email reminders continue daily while documents remain blocked.

Saved storage work resumes automatically after access is restored. Xero publishing requires you to open the affected document and retry it. If the result of an earlier attempt is uncertain, use **Check publication** before creating another entry.

See [Connection problems and saved documents](https://ziffa.io/user-guide/connection-recovery).

Disconnecting storage or an accounting integration can interrupt filing or billing. Read the confirmation and check the firm's work before proceeding. A connection problem is not solved by repeatedly issuing the same invoice or resending the same document.
